Your senior picture that you leave in your school’s yearbook will be your main connection to your school (aside from your records). It is also the one bond that binds you with the other seniors in your batch. Needless to say, you truly need to give that one picture the best shot that you have.
Aside from the clothes, the smile, and everything else to prepare in a photo shoot, one of the important things to remind the seniors is the fact that senior portrait poses do help win points.
Girls have definitely more picture pose variations for their senior portrait poses compared with the selection for boys. It could be that girls have more ideas on beautification and on beauty itself more than boys do. (There are exceptions, of course.)
One familiar senior portrait poses for girls that had not yet lost its charms no matter how many women did it in photos is the girl on a swing. This outdoor shoot calls for a swing tied to a tree branch with a girl sitting on the swing.
Even on a still photo, one can see how exquisite is the girl’s enjoyment of the swing and how beautifully she expresses her joy. The picture is classic – loose hair, white skirt and blouse, and the suggestion of a strong breeze on her face that has her hair blown away.
Notwithstanding the fact that there are now male models and males posing to sell some commercial products, senior portrait poses are still problematic for most senior guys.
Senior guys have totally different interests than girls, but once their interest is thrown into the mix of posing, they can be as charming, too.
One saving grace for these senior guys is the fact that they are not fuzzy when doing their senior portrait poses, especially when they are interested with their props – their favorite car, a favorite guitar or bike.
These days, however, senior guys have loosened up and are now less finicky when posing for their senior portraits. With the advent of the digital age when cell phones double up as instant cameras, guys are now relaxed and certainly know how to play up for the camera.
When it comes to looking good, guys are no longer as clueless as their counterparts in the past few decades. These days, guys already knew how to take care of their hair and skin much like the girls do.
When it comes to doing their favorite senior portrait poses guys are happy to pose in their best casual clothes in a graffiti-filled wall. Girls on the other hand, with hair and face completely done over, would still like to pose as the girl on a hammock or standing near a flowering shrub or in a nearby brook.
